Beck - The New Pollution (via eec)

Beck is so awesome. I just watched this three times, as I had never seen it before! When Odelay came out, I got the CD as a birthday gift, but for several years only listened to the tape I made of it since I didn’t have a discman. So, I definitely didn’t see any of the music videos.

My Girls, Animal Collective

I’ve had this song in my head all week, especially “I don’t mean…to seem like I care about material things…” I think it’s because CR and I have been working on our prenup this week. We are just starting, but it’s a tedious process that includes filling out a 14 page form with each of our assets and liabilities.

When I mention to friends and family that we are drawing up a prenup, I generally get a negative/shocked reaction, but I think that it is very sensible. I don’t intend for bad things to happen like my apartment burning up, or getting hit by a bus, but I still have renters and medical insurance just in case (and there’s not even a 50% chance of apartment fires or getting hit by busses!). This is just marriage insurance. I got the book, Prenups for Lovers, from the library, and it was a good way to get into the right mindset to put it all together.

Janelle Monae is my new favorite

I can’t stop watching this video; she’s just so cute and sassy. This is now in our wedding Google Doc in the “reception music” tab, so CR and I should probably start learning the choreography now.

Also, this:

Whether we high or low
We gonna get back up

Like the Dow Jones and NASDAQ

Sorta like a thong in an ass crack,

Come on

That’s it, I’m buying the album right this second.

I’ve had the masters for my EP for about a week or so now, and I am tired of sitting on them.  So, here is “Vested” from my upcoming release, Atlantic/Pacific.

I haven’t chosen a release date yet, but it will out this summer on itunes/amazon..etc.  If you like, please reblog, and visit the below sites:

Jónsi - Go Do (HD)

Lots of birds in this one, but still fabulous. I’m really into this album.

His tour doesn’t stop in NY, but we can peak at his insane set in a recent WSJ feature.

UPDATE: Thanks for the tip, Greg, I just bought tickets for 5/8 at Terminal 5!!!

Thom Yorke On Trumpet: Christian Scott And 'The Eraser' (NPR)

Click and listen.

I’m on my first time through, so I’m not sure what I think yet, though I’m generally not a Christian Scott fan (sorry, Andrew).

Me: I LOVE RADIOHEAD!!!
CR: Then why don’t you marry it?

I hate birds, but this is AWESOME.

French artist Céleste Boursier-Mougenot creates works by drawing on the rhythms of daily life to produce sound in unexpected ways. Boursier-Mougenot’s installation for The Curve, his first solo exhibition in the UK, takes the form of a walk-though aviary for a flock of zebra finches, furnished with electric guitars and other musical instruments. As the birds go about their routine activities, perching on or feeding from the various pieces of equipment, they create a random and captivating soundscape. (barbican.org)

Damn I love this album this week.

Only $5 from Amazon, so you should probably just do it.

Gary Burton can play some vibraphone. Just saying.

Plus, you owe it to yourself to check out the fringe jacket and facial hair.
